From the findings, the client was able to understand:

  • The level of localisation suitability, including aspects that resonated well with Japanese players and areas needing improvement
  • What elements of the game were liked or disliked, such as gameplay mechanics, visuals, storyline, and UI
  • The type of audience the game appeals to most, helping identify core demographics for targeted marketing

Application

Based on the findings from this study, the client could fine-tune both game elements and localisation to better suit the preferences of Japanese gamers, and also craft a more effective marketing strategy by targeting the most receptive segments of the market.

Findings

The client found that:

  • Overall, players generally expressed enthusiasm for the game
  • Players liked that:
    • The game gave them a sense of accomplishment after each win
    • The game was easy to understand and learn
    • The game’s shooting audios and map visuals were appealing

Application

Based on the findings from this study, our client also had a better understanding of the localisation of their game and used the findings to improve their game before officially launching it in the Japan market.
